When money comes back

The short version: credits you haven’t used are refundable for 14 days, credits you have used are not, and a failed analysis is always returned to you without asking.

Last updated 13 September 2026.

Credits you haven't used

If you bought credits within the last 14 days and have not spent them, ask and you will get your money back. There is no form and no reason required.

Unspent credits cost nothing to produce, no analysis was run, so there is nothing to recover by keeping the money. If you bought the wrong plan, or changed your mind, that is a good enough reason.

Credits you have used

A paper that has been analysed is not refundable. Each analysis is several minutes of a large AI model reading a full paper, and that is a real cost already paid on your behalf before you see the result.

If you bought 20 papers for $15 and have read three of them, a refund covers the seventeen you have not touched.

When an analysis fails

The credit comes straight back. This is automatic, it happens whether or not you notice, and you do not have to ask for it.

An analysis that produced something disappointing is not the same as one that failed. If the result was poor, say so under Help: that is worth knowing about, and if the paper was genuinely unreadable by the system the credit will be returned by hand.

Credits never expire

There is no subscription, nothing renews on its own, and credits do not run out at the end of a month or a year. You are buying papers, not time, so there is never a reason to spend a credit before you are ready, and never a bill you forgot to cancel.

What is not refunded

  • ·Papers already analysed, for the reason above.
  • ·Purchases older than 14 days. The credits stay yours and never expire, it is the money that is no longer returnable.
  • ·Accounts closed for breaking the terms. Where an account is ended without cause, unused credits are refunded.

How to ask

Open Help inside the app and choose “Payment or credits”. Anything about money goes straight to a person, the support assistant is not allowed to answer it, on purpose, because a confident wrong answer about your payment is worse than waiting for a real one.

Email support@researchbrainie.com, or use Help inside the app.

Refunds go back to the card or account you paid from. Your bank decides how quickly it appears, which is usually a few working days and occasionally longer.

Before a chargeback

One thing worth checking first. Payments go through Paddle, who are the seller of record, so the line on your statement carries their name rather than Research Brainie’s. A charge you do not recognise is very often that, not a fraudulent one.

If something has gone wrong with a payment, ask first. A disputed charge takes weeks, costs both of us, and a person here can usually sort it the same day. Nothing in this policy takes away a right you have under the consumer law where you live, or the protections your card provider gives you.

The full terms are here, and what happens to your papers is in the privacy policy.
