Research Brainie is owned and operated by D1Z Technologies Limited (RC 9682551), a company registered in Nigeria. When these terms say “we” or “us”, they mean D1Z Technologies Limited.

Research Brainie takes an academic paper you upload and runs a five-pass reading process over it. At each pass it asks you a question and holds back its own analysis until you have answered in your own words. It is a tutor, not a summariser, and the design makes that difficult to get around on purpose.

The analysis is produced by an AI model. It is frequently useful and occasionally wrong. Every analytical claim it makes is labelled as directly supported by the paper, inferred, outside knowledge, or uncertain, so that you can see which parts need checking, but the checking is yours to do. Do not submit anything from this service as fact without reading the paper yourself.

What it will not do is set out in the integrity statement, which is part of these terms. In short: it does not write your literature review, your argument or your assignment, and it refuses when asked.

• ·You need to confirm your email address before you can analyse anything. Everything else is open before that.
• ·One account is one person. Sharing an account, or reselling access, is not permitted.
• ·You are responsible for your password. Changing it signs out every other session, which is the fastest thing to do if you think someone else has it.
• ·You can close your account at any time from Settings, and take everything with you first.

Upload papers you have the right to read. Most journal articles are licensed to you or to your institution rather than owned by you, which is one reason the file is deleted as soon as its text has been read, we do not want to hold a publisher’s content and you are not granting us the right to.

Do not upload anything containing personal data about other people, confidential research you are not permitted to share, or material you have obtained unlawfully. What happens to a file after you upload it is set out in the privacy policy.

• ·One credit analyses one paper. The coach, flashcards, search, comparison and exports cost no credits.
• ·Credits never expire, and nothing renews by itself. This is not a subscription, you buy papers, not months.
• ·A new account gets 2 papers free, with no card.
• ·Paid credits are $15 for 20 papers or $39 for 60, in US dollars, before any tax your country charges.
• ·If an analysis fails, the credit comes back automatically. You do not have to ask.
• ·Payments are handled by Paddle, who are the seller of record. Their name, not ours, is what appears on your card statement and on your receipt.

Refunds are covered by the refund policy.

There are limits on how often the service can be called in an hour. They exist because every analysis costs real money to produce and an automated client could run up a large bill quickly. A person reading papers will never meet them.

Accounts used to scrape the service, to resell access, or to run automated traffic may be suspended. If that happens to you and it was a mistake, say so under Help and it will be looked at by a person.

The service is provided as it is. It is one person’s work, it depends on other companies staying up, and it can be unavailable without notice. No promise is made about uptime, and none should be relied on for a deadline.

The analysis is not academic advice, and it is not a substitute for reading the paper or for your supervisor. Any academic judgement you make remains yours. To the extent the law allows, liability is limited to what you have paid in the twelve months before a claim, which for most readers is a few papers’ worth, and is stated plainly rather than buried.

You can close your account whenever you like, from Settings, and download everything first. The service can end an account that breaks these terms, and where that happens without cause, unused credits are refunded.

These terms can change as the service does. Material changes will be announced in the app rather than quietly published here, and the date at the top of this page always says when it last moved.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nothing here removes rights you have under the consumer law of the country you live in.
